ALL ABOUT BSNL’S 3G (THIRD GENERATION) MOBILE SERVICE




Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) which claims a subscriber base of over 74 million started 3G telecoms services recently in 11 cities of India. They have launched this Service on commercial basis simultaneously from - Agra, Ambala, Jalandhar, Jaipur, Dehradoon, Shimla, Lucknow, Ranchi, Durgapur, Haldia, Patna & a soft launch in Jammu. BSNL had invested 27 billion rupees ($530 million) on rolling out 3G infrastructure. Only BSNL & MTNL are providing 3G services in India.



3G means the third generation of mobile communications systems which enhance the services such as multimedia, high speed mobile broadband, internet access with the ability to view video footage on your mobile handset. i.e. Mobile TV, Mobile Broadband, Video calls, Movies, Video PRBT etc will be available in these 3G service.

A 3G supporting phone and USIM is required for gaining access to 3G services. USIM is a SIM card for 3G services which stand for Universal Subscriber Identification Module. The storage capacity of USIM is 128 KB.



BSNL announced tariff plans for 3G mobile services under pre-paid and post-paid voice, video and data plans. The voice call will be available for as low as 10 paise per minute under full value Rs-1,000 plan, local SMS is at Rs10 paise per SMS under Super 1,350 plan.

Similarly, video calls would cost Re 1 a minute under the unlimited Rs-2,500 plan and Rs 2 for STD video calls. The newly launched service will offer up to data speed of 2 Mbps aver the GPRS.

With this great next generation service, you can create your own games on the net, create websites, pay utility bills; enjoy mobile banking, chatting and even upload user generated contents to internet.
