MUSIC LEGEND V. DAKSHINAMOORTHY PASSED AWAY!

    The legendary music composer and veteran carnatic musician V. Dakshinamoorthy (Venkateswaran Dakshinamoorthy) passed away on Friday (02-08-2013). He composed songs for Malayalam, Tamil and Hindi films and he has set scores for the songs in over 125 films. He has to his credit as many as 859 songs composed over a period of 50 years.

      Dakshinamoorthy debuted in the film industry with Nalla Thanka, produced by Kunchacko and K. V. Koshy under the banner of K & K Productions. The hero of the film was Augustin Joseph, father of renowned singer K. J. Yesudas.

                        His evergreen compositions include Swapnangal... Swapnangale ningal... (Kavyamela), Pattu padiyurakkan njan... (Seetha), Uthara swayamvaram... (Danger Biscuit), Kattile pazhmulam... (Vilaykku Vangiya Veena) and Vathil pazhuthilooden... (Idanazhiyil Oru Kalocha). The Duo Sreekumaran Thampy (Lyricist) and Dakshinamoothy worked together for more than 50 films and they created the maximum number of super hit songs. Some of the popular songs from this team include 'Hridaya sarasile pranaya pushpame,' 'Vaikkathashtami nalil,' 'Arattinanakal ezhunnalli,' 'Tharaka roopini,' 'Manohari nin manoradhathil' and 'Uthara swayamvaram kathakali kanuvan.'

In 1971 he won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Music Director. In 2003, he received the coveted 'Sangeetha Saraswathi' Award. In the year 2008, he composed 4 songs for the Malayalam Movie Mizhikal Sakshi.

ACTOR PRITHVIRAJ MARRIES BBC REPORTER SUPRIYA MENON

Young and dynamic Actor of Malayalam Film Industry, Prithviraj married his girl friend Supriya Menon today (25th April), at Palakkad. She is a journalist and worked as a BBC TV correspondent in Mumbai he wedding was attended by close family members.

Denying it was a secret affair, his mother Mallika Sukumaran said: "They have been childhood friends and we have known each other for a very long time and there was nothing secret in this.” She also told media persons that there would be two receptions - one on Saturday for family, and another the next day for the film fraternity.

Prithviraj made his debut in 2002 in the Malayalam film Nandanam directed by Renjth, and has starred in more than fifty films. His notable films are Swapnakoodu (2003), Classmates (2006), Thirakkatha (2008) and Urumi (2011)


Prithviraj made his Tamil debut through Kana Kandaen in 2005 as a sophisticated villain. His latest release in Tamil is Mani Ratnam's Raavanan, co-starring Vikram and Aishwarya Rai. Prithviraj debuted as a singer in Puthiya Mukham (2009) by singing the title song of the film, "Kaane Kaane". He won the award for Best Actor of Kerala in 2006 for his mind blowing performance in the film Vaasthavam.

MAMMOOTTY AND MOHANLAL IN “ARA KALLAN MUKKAL KALLAN”

ACTOR BALA AND IDEA STAR SINGER FAME AMRUTHA SURESH MARRIED.

South Indian actor Bala married Amrutha Suresh (Idea Star Singer fame) on August 27.
They tied the nuptial knot at the famous Thiruvanmiyur Siva Temple, Chennai around 12.10 pm. The wedding was in Tamil Hindu tradition. Malayalam Film Director Anil and Tamil Actor Kiran attended the wedding ceremony. Their engagement took place a year back in Angamaly. A grand reception is scheduled to be held in Gokulam Convention Centre, Kochi on September 5 for the friends and colleagues in Kerala.
He started his filmy career with Tamil Movie but got a break in the block buster Malayalam film “Puthiya Mukham”.

M.G.RADHAKRISHNAN, MALAYALAM MUSIC DIRECTOR PASSED AWAY.

King of light music and composer of several golden melodies, M.G.Radhakrishnan passed away after prolonged illness. He was ailing for some time with liver-related diseases.

He made his debut as a composer with director Aravindan’s movie "Thampu" (1978). His last film was "Ananthabhadram" (2005) which was directed by Santosh Sivan.

He had rendered music to many light music songs for Akashavani. Songs like “Ghanasyama Sandhya Hridayam” and ‘Odakkuzhal Vili Ozhuki Ozhuki Varum” captured the heart of all music lovers.

Noted singer M G Sreekumar is his brother and singer Dr Omanakutty is his sister.

Vijayaraghavan, Malayalam Actor back as Hero again

Vijayaraghavan,the son of famous dramatist and Actor N.N.Pillai, back as hero again in the Malayalam Film "Nanthuni". He will act as the character of Nanu Asan and the film is directed by debutant Hari Narayanan. A period flick set in the 1930's, 'Nanthuni' is about a village and its men saved from fatal diseases like 'Small Pox' by the only ayurveda and thantrik acaharya of the area, Nanu Asan.

In the nineties, he acted as hero in lot of films which include "Padanayakan ", directed by Nizar and "British Market". Thereafter, he excelled playing character roles and villains

'Nanthuni' will also have Saikumar, Kalasala Babu, Midhuna and Indrans in other key roles.

Mohanlal bags the Tiger Balm South Film Fare Award -2008 .

55th annual Tiger Balm South Filmfare Awards declared. The phenomenal superstar of Malayalam Film industry Mohanlal bags the best actor award of South Film Fare Award -2008. He got his 8th Filmfare Award for his outstanding performance in the film Paradesi. Mohanlal also got the State Award for the best actor for the same film in 2007.


An emotional winner, Mohanlal said, “I consider Paradesi as a landmark in my filmi career.”

Mohanlal’s Latest Film with Sathyan Anthikkad

Mohanlal , the actor with extreme talent and attracts everybody with his flexible acting style once again in company with Sathyan Anthikkad, who is specialized in making rural, oriented stories with a bit of humor. The film, named as "Innathe Chintha Vishayam", starring Mukesh, Innocent, Vijayaraghavan and Asokan expected to be released in the second week of April.
