Kerala State Film Awards 2010 or List of Winners of Kerala State Film Awards for the year 2009 declared. Mammooty won the best actor award for his remarkable performance in the films “Pazhassi Raja, Paleri Manikyam and Kutty Shrank. Best Actress award went to Swetha Menon for depicting the character “Cheeru” in the film “Paleri Manikyam : Oru Pathira Kolapathakathinte Katha”

Pazhassi Raja , multilingual biopic magnum opus film directed by T. Hariharan, and written by M.T. Vasudevan Nair won 8 awards and “Paleri Manikyam : Oru Pathira Kolapathakathinte Katha” (Director:Ranjith) based on a Malayalam novel by T. P. Rajeevan with the same name, won 4 awards. Interestingly Padmashree Mammooty acted lead roles in these two films.
Kerala State Film Awards, the most prestigious film awards for a motion picture made in Kerala were started in the year 1969 and the awards were managed directly by the Department of Cultural Affairs, Government of Kerala.
